For Artists and Volunteers

We are currently seeking volunteers for Joseph Fest 2024. There are a variety of ways to participate:

Please email StJoFest@BELfineart.com to sign up to participate or for more information. The deadline for artist signups is January 30, 2024.

Volunteers: Set up, take down, parking lot attendant, hospitality (to host artists from out of town), kids table, sign making, and much more!

Outdoor Stage: Performers and musicians to sign up to do sets from 12:30pm-3:30PM

Display and Demonstration Artists: Painters, potters, weavers, blacksmiths – any artisan who would like to display work or do a demonstration of his or her craft from 11AM-3:30PM

Artist Vendors: Do you make something to sell? Bring a table and sell your work from 11AM-3:30PM. Vendors will not be charged a fee for their participation, unlike the standard art fair model.

Sacred Music: We’ll be having a sacred music program in the church from 1PM-5:30PM, ending with adoration and benediction. We need singers and musicians to contribute to the program.

If you’ve already signed up for the festival, here’s what you need to know:

Whether you are an exhibitor, performer, or volunteer, you should have been assigned an organizer: ______ (exhibitors), Joe (Outdoor Stage), Sacred Music (David), Volunteers (________), Organizational Roles (Bethany). If you do not know who your organizer is, please email Bethany.

Loading and Unloading:

The parking lot will open at 8AM on Sunday the 19th. Only a few cars will be able to fit at a time. So, everyone will need be patient. As it is a Sunday, street parking will be free. There is also public, paid parking around the corner on 4th St. between H and G Streets.

Exhibitors will be set up by 11:00AM. The outdoor stage and sacred music will start after the Chinese mass which should be done around 12:30PM.

Adoration will close the festival. All are invited to close their exhibits and join in adoration. Music will stop prior to adoration. We will open the parking lot for unloading around the time adoration begins.

Google sheet for Festival Participants:

There is a shared Google sheet for the festival participants. There, you can see all the participants and their contact info, what their roles are, post in the “shared items needed” sheet, and see resources such as links to the festival flyer and social media picts.

Please use this sheet to collaborate with your fellow participants! There is a tab to enable pooling resources such as tables for the exhibitors.

Promoting the festival:

We are all responsible for promoting the festival! Please share the flyer and post the social media images to all your communities! The flyer and social media images are at the bottom of this page as well as under the resources tab on the Google sheet.

Please also contact your parish and ask to put the Festival in your bulletin!

Rain plan:

If it rains, we will move the exhibitors and outdoor stage to the church basement. It will likely be a bit of a modified plan (smaller spaces for everyone), but the show will go on.

Did you fill out the Google form for Roesha? If not, do so ASAP! You will not have a spot assigned to you unless you do. If you didn’t receive the link to the Google form, email Roesha or Bethany.

Musicians and Performers:

Your contact person and organizer is Joe if you’re performing at the outdoor stage or David if you’re performing in the church for the sacred music program.

You’re invited to the 2nd Annual St. Joseph’s Day Art & Music Festival on Sunday, March 19th at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church in D.C. (727 Fifth St. NW, Washington, D.C.–located on the corner of H Street just east of the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro). This year’s theme is “Never an Idle Hand.”
